On behalf of the conference’s executive committee we
would like to warmly welcome you to the official website for
the Breathing
New Life into Patients, Policies and Programs Conference
which will be taking place June 12-14, 2005 at the Schulich
School of Business, York University.
We are very excited about this joint venture between the
Asthma Society of Canada and the Public Management Program
of the Schulich School of Business and are very glad that
you will be joining us for this inaugural conference.
The Asthma Society of Canada is a national healthcare charity
that over its 30 year history has earned the reputation of
providing high-quality asthma information and education to
Canadians with asthma. The Asthma Society seeks to represent
the views and best interests of Canadian asthma consumers
with key stakeholders: government, industry, healthcare providers
and community agencies. The Society also engages in and facilitates
dialogue and debate on issues impacting Canadians with asthma.
The Schulich School of Business, founded in 1966, is a world-class
MBA school and research organization that has built a strong
reputation for outstanding programs, including North America's
first ever cross-border Executive MBA degree, the Joint Kellogg-Schulich
Executive MBA. The Schulich School of Business is well known
for its high calibre economic expertise and was recently ranked
22nd in the world in the annual rankings of the world's top
100 MBA programs by both the Financial Times of London and
the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the business research
and intelligence arm of The Economist magazine.
These two organizations have joined together to launch the
Asthma: Breathing New Life into Patients, Policies and Programs
Conference, a groundbreaking summit that will
unite world leaders in the fields of asthma and health economics
to explore the economic burden of asthma.
This conference will also unite senior elected officials,
public servants from multiple levels of government, representatives
from the private sector and international health policy experts.
Participants will join together to develop a series of recommendations
on how a leading economic model can be used to improve our
understanding of the true cost of asthma.
Schulich’s great reputation and first class amenities
make it an ideal facility for the upcoming conference. The
Asthma Society is honoured to be partnering with such a well-respected
institution and is very pleased to be sponsoring the forthcoming
summit.
Once again, we are very pleased that you will be attending
the upcoming conference and look forward to your valuable
participation.
Sincerely,

Dr. Mark Greenwald, FRCPC
